Louisiana rapper C-Murder is currently preparing his latest album Screamin' 4 Vengeance for release in July. The album follows 2005's Koch release The Tru Story: Continued, and will serve as C-Murder's TRU/Asylum Records debut. "This album is going to be very personal," C-Murder said via statement. "It's gonna be an open book on my trials and tribulations. Current events, things I've been going through, letting the world get it raw...Everything ain't gutter about the album though, because at the end of the day it's got a message. It ain't about go bang this and that, it's just a raw album about life and what's going on out here. At the end of the day, the end of the beat, you get the message that the streets ain't what's really popping." Joined by his new in-house production team Deadly Soundz, as well as Baton Rouge producer C-Loc, Screamin 4 Vengeance includes a guest appearance from former No Limit labelmate Mia X. The album marks C-Murder's first studio set in five years. "I'm just trying to bring that 100% street element back to music," C-Murder said. "You're not gonna hear me talking about driving this whip with 22s or anything like that. You're gonna hear real situations. This is my first studio album in a minute so I have to give it my all." In recent years, C-Murder has faced difficulties promoting himself as an artist, having been banned from doing interviews and attending events after being placed under stringent house arrest. He is currently awaiting a re-trial this June for second degree murder charges stemming from a January 2002 shooting. While his latest project promises to maintain the same hard edge he's been known for, C also hopes to deliver a meaningful message. "I'm the same C-Murder that you expected and saw on my first albums," C-Murder said. "It's just C-Murder with open eyes that wants to give you a message and let you know the consequences of your choices." Screamin 4 Vengeance lands in stores July 1st via TRU/Asylum Records. |
