Soul singer Amy Winehouse has been cleared on charges of perverting the course of justice in her husband's assault case.As previously reported, the British crooner was arrested in connection with an investigation of her husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, who was charged with assault and tampering with a witness; he pled not guilty in a court appearance on Friday (Feb. 29), although Winehouse was not present. According to the Associated Press, police will not question the beehived Brit any further. "Amy is pleased to be discounted from the investigation and thanks the police for their professionalism in their dealings with her," said Winehouse's spokesman, Chris Goodman, via statement. Those charges were the latest in a string of legal and personal troubles for the singer, which include postponing a national tour, being hospitalized for exhuastion, an arrest for marijuana possession last October, and a recently-posted video that allegedly shows the singer smoking crack. Life mirrored art when Winehouse's label announced that she recently checked into a rehab facility to kick her drug habit. |
