Rappers have been tackling football metaphors for years, so it's not surprising that many of hip-hop's finest have weighed in with their Super Bowl Sunday predictions.polled a group of outspoken rappers and found both Patriot and Giants fans among the bunch. The undefeated New England Patriots have been the NFL's top story this year and the combination of QB Tom Brady and his favorite receiver Randy Moss have converted fans far outside their Massachusetts stadium who want to see them take it all the way. "The Patriots doing their thing right now," Buddie of Dem Franchise Boyz told. "They're undefeated. I'd like to see them make history." "They got an excellent offense, non stop offense," fellow DFB member Parlae agreed. "That's my team. I don't think there's going to be no team better than the Patriots. Another Atlanta rapper, Killer Mike, also admitted to pulling for the Patriots, "Yeah I'm a Pats fan," Mike said, before adding that he has also been following Giants quarterback Eli Manning. "I've been watching Eli since Ole Miss. I think he's gonna be big as Peyton but he's finna take an L to Brady. Moss is my favorite Pats player this year, Antoine Smith was when they won the 1st one in New Orleans. So I call the Pats by 6. Moss or Brady MVP." The Giants were not without their share of fans among Southern rappers. "Honestly, I wanna see New York bring it on home," Nashville native Young Buck told. "New York has done way more for me personally than New England has, so I wanna see them go ahead and do it." D4L rapper Shawty Lo predicted the New York Giants will upset the favored Patriots and likened the match to the biblical bout between David and Goliath. [Watch video here] "Eli is gonna take it," Shawty Lo said. "Everybody is rooting for the New England Patriots but I'm going with the underdog. I feel they gonna pull it out. It's gonna be a real big upset. It's sorta like David and Goliath, Eli and the Giants are David, the Patriots are Goliath. I'm rooting for the Giants. Not taking anything away from the Patriots, I love the Patriots, I love Tom Brady it's just, y'know, I feel the Giants are gonna take it." New York's Big Noyd also has hopes for his hometown squad -- the Queens MC pointed to the teams' last close match as well as good stats on the road and a possibly injured Tom Brady as factors for a Giants win. "Even though New England is unbeatable right now, I think the Giants actually have a good chance because they're unbeatable when it comes to the road trips," Noyd said. "They were saying that Tom Brady's ankle was acting up, I don't know how true it is, but that also helps. I definitely think the Giants might pull this one out. I'm thinking it will be 21-35, something like that, Giants favor. The last time they played each other they only won by like a field goal or something. Being on the road I think they have a good chance with this one. NYG is definitely in the building." As previously reported, Mary J. Blige and Maroon 5 will be performing in Pepsi Smash concerts during Super Bowl XLII weekend. Alicia Keys is also scheduled to perform in the pre-game show. The New England Patriots and New York Giants kickoff Super Bowl XLII Sunday, February 3rd from the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona; airing at 6 p.m. EST on Fox |
