After having already made her mark on the hip-hop game, famed female lyricist Yo-Yo is back, this time serving as a judge and co-host of the new VH1 reality show "ego trip's Miss Rap Supreme." The former gangsta chick turned mom spoke with about how Khia was made for TV, how every woman can learn something from the show and how she is sick of hip-hop.

After her last album Ebony was not released, Yo-Yo says that she was done with rap but, something wouldn't let her turn her back on the game.

"When the album wasn't released, I was just fed up with hip-hop, but I think it was a blessing in disguise," she said. "I was fed up with gangsta rap. I was tired of that gangsta girl image with the gat in the purse. I became a different person, a different woman. I got tired of lying to people saying that I was working on an album when I wasn't, so I thought, how am I gonna recreate myself? What am I going to do ?"

In addition to going back to school and getting an associate's degree in liberal arts, a stint in radio on the Los Angeles station KDAY and several roles in film and TV, Yo-Yo decided to reinvent herself with "Miss Rap Supreme." She says that as soon as she got the call from the creators of "The (White) Rapper Show," she knew it would be right for her.

"I got a call from Sacha Jenkins from ego trip like, 'Yo-Yo, what you been up to? I have this opportunity for you,' she recalled. "When he told me what it was I was like oh my God, this would be perfect." [Watch an exclusive trailer of the show below]

"Miss Rap Supreme" sees aspiring female rappers battling it out in a series of challenges all in hopes of winning $100,000. Yo-Yo, who hosts the show along with former 3rd Bass rapper, MC Serch, hopes that some of the girls can learn from her on their way to the top.

"I'm hoping that they can learn from some of my mistakes," she said. "I see a little bit of me in the majority of them. Being a judge on the show, it was kind of hard to give advice and input the way I wanted to all the time. Instead of trying to just be this judge character for TV, I was me and gave them advice from a woman's perspective."

One of the contestants that surprised the former Ice Cube protégé was Khia - best known for her hit "My Neck, My Back." And while some would say that her inclusion in a show full of up and coming MC's is a sign of her falling off, Yo-Yo believes that it is a sign of maturity for the rapper.

"I was excited to see Khia on the show," Yo-Yo said. "It's hard for a person who's had a hit to bow down. The show itself has a lot of energy, which is exciting and she brought a lot of that energy. Trust me, you don't want to miss her. She's going to want to make you watch the show. She'll keep you tuned in."

And while the show is entertainment, Yo-Yo says she feels that all young women, even those not looking to get into the rap game, can learn from it.

"It's the journey of every woman," she explained. "It's not just a rapper show strictly. Yeah, the challenge is rap, but some of the things that happen on the show are indicative of the struggles that women go through everyday. It's TV, so it's entertaining, but I think a lot of women will gravitate to this show, even those who don't listen to rap."

"ego trip's Miss Rap Supreme" debuts on VH1 tomorrow at 10/9 p.m. Central.
