In this exclusive Remy Ma opens up about the strain that her criminal charges are putting on her career and her upcoming "Martin" inspired single.

Remy Ma appeared in Manhattan Criminal Court today (Jan. 31) to set a trial date for her assault case. While Remy's lawyer, Ivan Fisher, called out sick for the last two court appearances, he was able to make it out this morning (Jan. 31). During the short proceeding Judge R. Uviller set a temporary trial date for February 25.

As previously reported, the judge denied Remy request to travel to Europe for a 5-City tour. The Bronx-bred rapper was looking forward to going overseas because she has had trouble booking US shows since her legal woes began.

"I haven't been performing lately because the cops have been shutting down my shows," she told exclusively.[Watch video below]

The police consider Remy to be a security risk and have prevented her from performing at Hammerstein Ballroom and the Nokia Theatre in New York City.

"[They say], 'If she comes in here we're going to close the whole event down.'"

"Most of the shows and stuff that I do I have to do without promoting it," she said. "Promotion is what brings the people so it's really hard. That's why I needed my passport so I can go overseas. I had a whole European tour set up but they denied that. I just want this trial to be over so I can get back to working."

Since she hasn't been performing as of late, Remy has had plenty of time to prepare to shoot the video for her upcoming single.

"I have this song called 'Martin.' I did the theme song to the TV show so it's kinda cool. I just been doing the dance moves. I'm in the dance studio getting my Ciara on," she says with a laugh.

Though she is excited about her new moves, Remy expresses concern about releasing new music while standing trial.

"I don't want it to get the wrong press with all of the lies and craziness that's going on," she explained. "You're gonna see in the end and then everyone gonna be like, 'Remy was right we shoulda listened to her.'"
