T-Pain Launches Digital Record Label

R&B hit maker T-Pain is expanding his portfolio and invading the world of digital music with the launch of his own independent record label, Nappy Boy Digital.

The new venture will provide the Tallahassee, Florida based "sanga" - who is currently signed to Akon's Konvict Music label - a direct outlet to release his hits to fans via all major digital download sites.

"Nappy Boy Digital is a dream come true for me," T-Pain said in a statement. "I'm excited about bringing music by new artists to people fresh out of the studio."

"My life and career so far has been about breaking barriers and this label allows me to continue that by delivering hit songs in real time, no red tape, just good music," he continued. "I'm very proud to be out front on an idea like this."

T-Pain is no stranger to success. He debuted on the music scene with his 2005 hit "I'm Sprung" and his 2007 smash single "Buy U A Drank" sold more than 3 million ringtones. To date, T-Pain has sold over 15 million ringtones, which gives him the record for the largest seller of ringtones.

The first artist to be released on his new digital label is Tay Dizm, a Miami-born emcee that has appeared on both his Rappa Ternt Sanga (2005) and Epiphany (2007) albums.

Tay Dizm's debut single, "Beam Me Up" features T-Pain and hip-hop heavyweight Rick Ross. The track is already available as an iTunes exclusively and will be released on the radio on June 16th.

In related T-Pain news, the auto-tuned singer/songwriter/producer received the most nods for the BET Awards with five nominations. The awards show will air on June 24th.
