Literally having grown up in hip-hop, Bow Wow already has a long rap career. But now the solo artist is joining somebody else's Entourage - HBO's.
The 21 year-old rapper just landed a recurring role on the cable network's popular series, according to Reuters. He'll play a stand-up comic, Charlie, who is also a new client of E, played by (Kevin Connolly).
"After 16 years in the music industry and six successful albums, I've decided to shift my energy to something else I'm passionate about, acting," Bow Wow said. "I'm going to try to be the next Will Smith."
His idol, Smith, also started out rapping before transitioning into big budget movies.
In addition to making his debut on the small screen, Bow's got a feature flick gig lined up, playing opposite Forest Whitaker and Isaiah Washington in the sports drama "Patriots," which also stars Lil' Wayne. Bow Wow also recently wrapped the indie comedy Driving Lessons.
Before that, Bow already had quite a resume of on-screen appearances including the movies Roll Bounce, The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, Johnson Family Vacation and All About the Benjamins.
The rapper -- who dropped the collabo album Face Off last year with R&B dude-turned-actor, Omarion - isn't quitting the rap game for acting. He plans on getting back into the studio to turn out his seventh disc titled H.I.M. (History in Making), later this year.
Bow will also take off on a 25-city tour this summer.
