Multi-talented singer songwriter producer Dwele is set to drop his latest album Sketches of a Man this summer.
"Sketches of a Man is ultimately what I am and where I am in 2008," Dwele explained via statement. "It is inspired by life and love, and it is about finding out how I fit into these different musical genres or how I would fit into these new cultures. Like, if I spoke French, how would it sound?...I think that's what inspiration is."
The third album for the Grammy-nominated Detroit native, Sketches of a Man is lead by his first single "I'm Cheatin,'" produced by G-1, who previously contributed his beat making skills to "Find A Way," off Dwele's debut album Subject. [Listen Here]
"It's based on a true story that I put a spin on," Dwele admits. "Unless you really pay attention, you might get the wrong idea,"
Other notable tracks on the album include "A Few Reasons," an upbeat hip-hop inspired track written and performed by Dwele with production from Nottz, "Body Rock" and "Open Your Eyes," Dwele's cover of the Bobby Caldwell classic and "Love Ultra," as well as the soulful record "Vain," where Dwele sings about the difficulties of holding onto a relationship.
Sketches of a Man follows several Grammy award nominations for Dwele this year, including one in the "Best Urban/Alternative Performance" categoryfor his interpretation of "That's The Way of the World," from the Stax Records compilation, Interpretations: Celebrating the Music of Earth, Wind & Fire. He was also nominated for his collaborative efforts on Common's single "The People," and his role on Kanye West's Best Rap Album Graduation, having appeared on "Flashing Lights."
Sketches of A Man hits stores June 24th via RT Music Group/Koch Records.
