With the hype surrounding this season of the hit MTV reality series "Making The Band" continuing to build, chopped it up with the "MTB4" cast members on to get a sneak peak into what fans can expect from the show this season.
Last night (Jan. 28) marked the first episode of the new season, which features Danity Kane, solo artist Donnie and the guys chosen to make the boy band, all living under one roof in Miami, recording albums simultaneously. Outside of the in-house hook ups that are sure to take place this season, both group told that there was also actually music being made as well.
"There's a lot for our fans to expect from us [with this new album], especially as artists," Dawn of Danity Kane said during a conference call. "We're going in a new direction vocally, with our dancing and just overall musically as well."
The ladies, who also got a chance to write on this album, said that they worked with some of the industry's heaviest hitters including hit makers Bryan Michael Cox, Scott Storch, The Runners and Danja Handz.
"I'm very proud of the girls," said Bad Boy President Harve Pierre. "They've grown from the last album to this second one and I love their work ethic. And they also became platinum artists. It's just good having artists like that on the label."
But the ladies weren't the only ones making moves in the MIA. The five male artists chosen to make the band (whose collective name is being held secret) also worked with Cox, Mario Winans, Danja Handz and The Runners, among others, to make sure that their debut effort is a success as well.
"We're just gelling together and becoming a better group," group member Brian said. "It's just been us getting together, learning each other and trying to find our sound. We're kind of like the Temptations. Everybody's got their own job and swag in the band. You're going to get good music out of all five of us. I can honestly say that this album is crazy. It's gonna be pretty hard to top it."
According to Diddy, both groups' albums are due out in March and both are scheduled to hit the road on tour in June. With both projects taking only a mere six weeks to record, there was a little bit of a battle of the sexes going on to see who could come out on top.
"It was team work but competition at the same time," said Danity Kane member D. Woods. "We definitely helped to push each other, in a good way."
The girls of Danity Kane currently have the single "Damage" in radio rotation while the fellas' first offering, the Winans produced "Got Me Going" is also hitting the airwaves. A single from solo artist Donnie is scheduled to be released to radio in the next four weeks. But fans looking to get juicy controversy and hook-ups, don't worry. Both groups say that there is plenty of that to go around.
"There's making good music but there's also drama, kissing, hooking up...it's crazy," said guys group member Q. "Ya'll are definitely going to get good TV every Monday night"
Making the Band 4 airs on MTV on Monday at 10 p.m.
