Things could be looking up for New Orleans rapper, C-Murder. He's getting another chance at ducking a second-degree murder rap.

The rapper (born Corey Miller) is being tried again for allegedly shooting 16-year-old Steve Thomas at a nightclub in Harvey, Louisiana back in January 12, 2002, according to the Associated Press.

The new trial date, set for Feb. 11, was announced at a hearing yesterday (October 16).

As previously reported, C-Murder was convicted in 2003, but that got tossed out after Judge Martha Sassone found that prosecutors withheld criminal background information on witnesses from his attorney. The state Supreme Court upheld that ruling in March 2006, when she set Miller's bail at $500,000 and ordered him under house arrest.

He faces a mandatory life sentence without parole.

The rapper wrote a novel in prison entitled Death Around the Corner, and though he changed his name to C-Miller after being charged with murder, the book's byline credits Corey Miller a.k.a. C-Murder as its author.

In related news, it was confirmed through laboratory testing that the positive results of C-Murder's drug test, administered by a home incarceration officer, was false. The test initially showed methamphetamine in the rapper's urine. According to Assistant District Attorney Roger Jordan, the false positive could have been caused by cold medication.
