Krown Towers has sued the creators behind 2005's West Coast dance-based documentary Rize for $30,000 claiming the company never received an agreed upon share of profits.

According to TMZ, the California corporation filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles yesterday (November 4) naming Lions Gate Films, Thomas E. Johnson AKA "Tommy The Clown," David LaChapelle and other individuals responsible for the non-payment.  Alleging breach of contract and interference with existing contractual relations, Krown claims there was a written agreement that granted them 25 percent of the film's net revenue after pitching in their $30,000.

"Before making the motion picture entitled 'RIZE,' as well as before making and generating replications of the movie for purposes of DVD and other sales, Defendants -- were fully aware and knowledgeable of the contractual obligation," the suit read. "Each of the named Defendants in this cause of action profited from the manufacture and sale of the 'RIZE' documentary, motion picture, DVD, and other sales, without first obtaining Plaintiff's written permission to move forward"

The company also stressed the individuals' intentional disregard to sell the product without obtaining Krown's approval.

"[They] were fully aware and knowledgeable of the contractual obligation that Plaintiff KROWN TOWERS had to provide its written permission to allow each of them to so manufacture and sell the 'RIZE' product to members of the general public."

In addition to demanding a trial by jury, Krown is also requesting compensation for their monetary losses, attorney fees, punitive damages, costs of the law suit and other further relief determined by a jury.

Directed by famed fashion photographer David LaChapelle - who is known for his work with Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Lopez and Britney Spears - Rize takes place in Los Angeles' inner city covering two dancing styles known as clowning and krumping. Towards the end of the documentary, both versions square off in a dance competition.
